Our Story

Our Mission

Originally founded as a commercial Angus herd, our mission has been to continually improve genetics, temperament, cattle handling, pastures, and animal health in a sustainable way to achieve consistently high MSA carcass outcomes from grass-fed Angus cattle.

Understanding that the core of our success lies in our cow herd, we began performance recording with ACR Angus Registration, later advancing to APR and incorporating some HBR purchases. This year, we initiated an Embryo Program to introduce elite American Angus genetics that fit our performance and type criteria, enabling us to benchmark future carcass outcomes.

Each year, we join over 3,000 spring-calving females, with 2,000 undergoing Artificial Insemination, followed by bulls at approximately 3%. BPW bulls now make up a significant portion of our bull stock, allowing us to use carcass data for effective grading and selection, which also applies to our females.

Our Bullseye Angus herd has set rigorous standards by focusing on mature cow weight, growth, fertility, and carcass quality. An independent assessor reviews our herd for structural soundness and temperament. Bullseye Angus maintains a high level of Animal Health and Husbandry and is involved in numerous industry Quality Assurance programs ensuring the standards are at the highest level.

A family legacy

Over a century after Duncan McRae first began grazing on the rich river flat pastures near Molesworth, Victoria, Bullseye Angus continues to uphold the same strong family values. Now in its sixth generation, Bullseye Angus has grown into one of Australia's leading registered Angus operations in Australia, producing ethically raised, all-natural Black Angus beef.
